Running Reports
What is an LDC Report?
An LDC Report is related to payroll and labor allocation and requires special permission to access.
Why is infoAdvantage connectivity slow?
There is a known issue with intermittent performance issues with infoAdvantage. Here are some tips you can try:
If the infoAdvantage report has run longer than 20 minutes, click Cancel on the retrieving data pop-up and try to run your report again.
Log out of all internet browser windows, clear your computer cache, and try running your report again.
If you are finished running your reports in infoAdvantage, please log out.
Limit your query to a smaller selection of data when running your infoAdvantage report (i.e., limit to one Department, Accounting Period, etc.)
If you are still experiencing issues with a report not running, please send the following details to CORE Help:
Report Location
Report Name
Prompts Used in the Report
Excel Output of the Report (Include Cover Page)
Indicate if you are experiencing this when running other reports.
How do I filter my report?
To filter your report, you will want to export your report to excel, and then perform the filter.
Where are my Favorites?
Favorites are located on the BI Launch Pad start page under Favorites.
If you do not have report development access, you will no longer have a favorites folder in infoAdvantage. For non-report developers, the reports that existed in favorites in the pre-NIST environment were copies of Statewide reports, and therefore, were not transitioned to the NIST infoAdvantage environment.
If you do have report development access, you either have not modified a report since December 31, 2017, so your favorites were not moved over, or, your favorites were not moved into the Departmental / NIST Migration folder prior to NIST go-live. If you have additional questions on your report favorites, please contact core.help@state.co.us.
Why is my report running so long, not returning results, or returning an error?
If your report is running for a long time (reports should run no longer than 20 minutes) without returning results, returning partial reports, or returning an error message, try canceling the report, closing out of the tab for the report window, and try opening a new instance of the report. Refer to the Resolving Infinite Query Job Aid for instructions.
You may want to limit your infoAdvantage report to a smaller data set (i.e., limit to one Department, Accounting Period, etc.).
Note: If you are a report developer and are working on a custom report. You may receive an error message the first time you try running your query. If this occurs try closing the error message, save your report, and try running the report again.
How do I search for a specific report?
Searching for reporting content can be accomplished by using the search function. This is located in the upper right-hand corner on the menu bar and the other is collapsed under Folders on the left-hand side of the window. Only the search function in the top-right hand corner of the window is available on in a report.
How do I search within a report?
The search within a report function is different from the program search function. This function allows you to use the search function located in the Web Intelligence main panel to search within a report. Once you have click on the main panel icon, you can use the search bar under Navigation Map.
I have discarded a rejected transaction. Am I able to view the accounting line of the transaction in infoAdvantage?
Discarded transactions are not final, therefore, they do not exist in CORE or infoAdvantage. However, a canceled transaction that has been finalized can show up in infoAdvantage.
How do I determine if a report is pulling data from the Data Warehouse (ETL driven) versus real-time from the operational data?
Report performance questions can be answered by looking at the report “Cover Page” on all StateWide reports. Under the “Summary of each Query” section is information on which source the data is being pulled from. If the Universe name begins with O, such as OFIN – Financial Transaction Catalog. The data is being pulled directly from the operational database. An example of an ETL driven source would be FIN – Accounts Payable.
What infoAdvantage report can I run to retrieve amounts and coding for accounting lines I've inadvertently deleted?
Unfortunately, once you delete any accounting lines, you will not be able to retrieve the information again. infoAdvantage can only report things that are still in CORE. If the accounting lines were deleted, they will not show on the reporting side.
Why is my report returning results that don’t appear to be correct?
If your report is running for a long time and returning results that you don’t expect or are different then results from the same report run earlier that day, it may be reaching the Universe timeout that is set for retrieving data. The typical Universe timeout is either 10 or 20 minutes. To determine how long your query ran before returning results you can review the report cover page. If the Execution time is near 600 or 1200 this typically means the report couldn’t retrieve all of the data and returned partial information
You may want to limit your infoAdvantage report to a smaller data set (i.e., limit to one Department, Accounting Period, etc.).
I am trying to run a report to encompass multiple days, but it's not capturing the final day of information, why?
There are two workarounds you can use.
1. You will want to adjust the time on the End Date to be 11:59 PM instead of the default 12:00AM.
2. You will want to select the next day and keep the 12:00AM end time. Ex: You want the report to run from 01/01 to 01/06. You will set the Start Date field to be: 01/01/2021 12:00AM. The End Date field will be 01/07/2021 12:00AM to encompass all of the information contained for the day before.
