This job aid describes the process of reactivating your Google Authenticator (MFA).
1. Log in to CORE. Then click the user icon located in the top right corner of the home screen.
2. This will populate a drop down menu. Click the Account Settings link to access the account settings page.
3. On the Account Settings page select the Dual Factor Authentication sub section.
Click the Re-Activate button.
4. Follow steps 4 through 7 of the Setting up Google Authenticator job aid to complete reactivation.
Using a Recovery Code if you need to sign in without your device:
When you sign in, choose "Enter a recovery code" instead of using your Authenticator app for the verification code.
Enter the recovery code that you saved when you activated Google Authenticator.
NOTE: You can use each recovery code only once.
Don't have a Google Account? Did you know you can still use Google Authenticator? You can save the verification codes on your device. This way, you won't need to sync them with a Google account. This means you'll be responsible for your backup codes, and you won't need a Google account to access your codes.
To use Google Authenticator without a Google account:
Open the Google Authenticator app on your device.
When prompted, select "Use without an account" or "Don't log in".
Add accounts by scanning QR codes or entering the setup key provided by the service you want to add.
Remember to save the backup codes (also called recovery keys) provided during the setup process in a secure location. You'll need them to recover your accounts if you lose access to the authenticator.
