Locating Valid Commodity/Object Code Combinations
Process
This job aid describes steps on how to look up valid commodity/object code combinations.
CORE is driven by the commodity code(s) selected. The commodity codes used by the State of Colorado were developed by the
National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP). The NIGP commodity codes are a coding structure for standardizing
purchasing that brings order and consistency for efficiency. The codes cover all types of goods and services and as the number of digits increases, the more descriptive/narrow the type becomes.
Example: 005 is for Abrasives and 00505 is for Abrasive Equipment and Tools.
