Designating Parent and Child Stock Items in a Warehouse
Process
This job aid describes the processes for Inventory Setup: Designating Parent and Child Stock Items in a Warehouse.
1. Enter ITMG in the Global Search field.
2. Designate the Parent Stock Item.
Select Create
Parent Stock Item fields are editable.
If the Parent Stock Item number is known, enter it in the Parent Stock Item field and select Save.
If the Parent Stock Item number is not known, click the pick list to search for the stock item.
Select Search
Select Save
3. Designate the Child Stock Item.
Select the Parent Stock Item for the Child Stock Item.
Select Insert in the Child Stock Item section.
If the Child Stock Item number is known, enter it in the Child Stock Item field and select Save.
If the Child Stock Item is not known, click the pick list to search for the stock item.
Select the stock item designated as the Child Stock Item.
Enter Quantity.
4. Repeat the previous step to assign all Child Stock Items to the Parent Stock Item.
There must be at least two Child Stock Items assigned to the Parent Stock Item.
5. Select Save.
6. Assign the Warehouse for the Parent/Child Commodities.
Select three dot menu at the top of the ITMG page and then select Related Pages - Inventory Maintenance
Search for and select the Parent Stock Item to display its stock item record.
Select Edit from the three dot menu
Flag the Parent Item field
Select Save.
7. Verify stock item’s record shows the Parent Stock Item checked.
8. Verify that the Parent Stock Item record lists the correct warehouse.
