Getting Started with Business Roles and Homepages

CGI Homepage with links, user menu, and side navigation highlighted

When you log into CORE, you will land on the homepage for your primary assigned Business Role.

Quick Links are the colorful icons on the top of your homepage.  They provide direct access to CORE pages for the Business Role you are currently using, or they link to other resources like the CORE Support website.

Widgets are below the Quick Links on your homepage.  They are quick-glance dashboards of data that will be helpful to your daily work, such as recent transactions you have created or a count of transactions in your worklist waiting for your approval, as examples.

You can change your current Business Role by clicking on your initials circle at the top right of your CORE browser session.  If you have more than one Business Role available to you, it will show in your My Roles section of the drop-down.

Each Business Role provides you with different homepage quick links and widgets.  However, (and this is really important!) Business Roles do not grant you security access.   Access to create, edit or approve various transactions and maintenance tables in the CORE systems can only be granted or removed by security roles given to you via the UDOC process.

Business Roles are a handy tool for organizing all the links and dashboards users need for daily tasks.  This means that someone using their Budget Business Role will have different Quick Links and Widgets than someone using their Procurement Business Role, for example. This is because when you are doing budget tasks versus when you are doing procurement tasks, you have different job responsibilities and use different document transactions and screens in the system.

The account interface is visible on the website, showcasing user roles and account options.
