This error often appears to indicate a duplicate entry, but in many cases, it is caused by a Chart of Accounts (COA) conflict in the accounting section of the document. Before submitting a ticket, please try the following steps:
Possible simple ways this could happen:
On a GAX or other doc, you have only one document being created on the sheet, but multiple accounting line numbers 1s.
You have multiple vendor codes, but only one Vendor Line Number.
On a JV type document, you have multiple event types for only one line group.
If one of the above is not the root cause:
1. Isolate the potential COA conflict
In the accounting section, clear the data beginning with the Appropriation Unit column and all columns that follow it.
• This is typically the next 5–10 columns actively used for data (though 20–30 columns may be available in total).
2. Test the document
Attempt to process the document as a Draft.
• If the document processes successfully, the error was caused by a COA conflict.
• If the document still fails, the issue may be a true duplicate (for example, two accounting lines using the same line number).
3. If Step 2 succeeds, identify the specific conflict
Re-add the cleared COA columns one or two at a time.
After each re-addition, attempt to process the document as a Draft.
• When the Q0134 error returns, the last column you restored likely contains the conflicting data.
• Review that column for accuracy and correct as needed.
4. Other causes
Inadvertent spaces, whether at the beginning, middle, or end of a COA field, can also trigger the Q0134 error. When manually entering data, double‑check that no extra spaces are present.
Important Notes
• This troubleshooting method does not apply to IA and IN documents because they do not use the Appropriation Unit field and are not affected by this type of COA conflict.
• IET and IET3 documents include two Appropriation Unit fields: one in Exchange Details and one in 2nd Party Accounting.
If you attempt this troubleshooting method on these templates, begin by clearing only:
• Columns CA–CY and DW–EU
Do not remove data from columns CZ–DV.
